The image of the Virgin Mary with the Child Jesus is a 1.70 meter tall polychrome wood carving by Roque Baldugue done in the second third of the 16th century.

In researching this chapel on the internet I found out that an old casket was discovered in 1977 that claimed to have the skull of Pizarro.
Forensic anthropologists and historians claim that these new bones where the real bones of Pizarro.
From here it got even more confusing... It was said that the remains were not fit to show the public so they were put in a small ooffin inside the glass srcophagus.
However, the photo above shows what I saw in the Lima Cathedral. On the internet, there is a picture of the same glass sarcophagus and skeleton, facing the other way, identified to be in Quito.
